Chestnut Street Revisited, Tour 1 - Lower Chestnut Street

Local historian and raconteur Jim McAllister dishes up a delicious “Chestnut Street Stew” featuring historical facts, architectural observations, and a heavy dose of colorful anecdotes culled from interviews, century - old written accounts of life in the neighborhood, and a variety of other sources.

Each of the two tours makes its own contribution to the flavor of Jim’s lively look back at the good - and not so good - old days on Salem’s most magnificent residential street. Tour 1 focuses on lower Chestnut Street, from Summer Street to Botts Court.
